The BMW X7 is the top of the brand's SUV range and the only BMW that competes directly with full-size limousines. The point of the model is not performance but space: three rows of seats, a high driving position and a cabin in which seven people travel without compromise. It is a car conceived as a presentable vehicle for a group rather than for the driver.
The 40i variant uses a turbocharged inline six, an engine reviewers consistently praise for its refinement. Unlike the V8 versions, the appeal here is not drama but smoothness: the engine is almost inaudible, torque builds evenly, and the automatic shifts without noticeable steps. At nearly five and a half metres long the car rides surprisingly calmly thanks to air suspension that smooths bumps rather than transmitting them.
The impression the X7 creates comes from proportion rather than aggression. The high bonnet line, large grille and upright silhouette make it visible from a distance — but in a way that suits a business trip or a wedding rather than a track-day shoot.
The AUREX example is a 2023 model year. The powertrain is a 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo inline six producing 381 hp and 520 Nm, with an automatic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive. Zero to 100 km/h takes 5.8 seconds and top speed is 250 km/h, the standard electronic limit.
The figures are secondary here, but worth setting against the dimensions: a car weighing well over two tonnes accelerates faster than most sports cars of two decades ago. In practice this means unhurried overtaking on single-carriageway roads even when fully loaded with passengers and luggage.
From the factory the X7 has five doors and seven seats across three rows; an optional six-seat configuration replaces the second-row bench with two individual chairs. Equipment includes a modern infotainment system with smartphone integration, comfortable seats, driver assistance and parking support — in a car this long, cameras and sensors are not an extra but a prerequisite for sensible use.
The X7 requires planning in the city. Nearly five and a half metres of length and over two metres of width with mirrors mean not every space in an underground car park in Śródmieście will do — check the entrance height, because some older garages in the centre are limited to under two metres. Air suspension lowers the body, which in many cases is enough.
Beyond that, the city suits the X7 well. Wide arteries and a high driving position give good visibility in dense traffic, and the Clean Transport Zone in the central districts poses no restriction for a 2023 petrol engine.
It is also the best car in this fleet for airport collection with a larger group: three rows of seats and a full-size boot with the third row folded let you collect four people with suitcases from the Chopin Airport terminal or Modlin in a single run. You can also collect the car from our office at Nowy Świat 54/56.
Moving a group is the primary scenario: a four-person delegation, a family with children, a production crew. No other car in this fleet will take seven.
The second scenario is event work — a wedding, a conference, guests arriving from abroad. The X7 looks presentable and lets people get in wearing a suit or a gown without gymnastics, which cannot be said of the low coupés in the same fleet.
The third is a long motorway run with luggage: air suspension and the refinement of the inline six make five hundred kilometres pass without fatigue.
The fourth is long-term rental for a company. The X7 in 40i form is markedly more sensible to run than full-size V8 SUVs, and over multi-month periods that difference becomes significant. There is also a practical argument: a car of this class bought outright ties up capital that usually has better uses in a business. Terms for extended periods are agreed individually.
Two large SUVs in one fleet that barely overlap. The X7 40i is a 381 hp car with an inline six, three rows of seats and air suspension, designed around its passengers. The Mercedes-AMG G63 is 585 hp from a twin-turbo V8 in an angular, body-on-frame shell, designed around the impression it makes.
If seat count, comfort over distance and genuine usefulness matter, the choice is obvious and falls to the X7. If what matters is how the car looks outside a hotel and how it sounds on start-up, the G63 has no rival in this fleet. A third option, the Lamborghini Urus Performante, sits closer to the G63 than to the X7 and adds sports car performance on top.
It is also worth being honest about fuel consumption: the X7's inline six uses noticeably less than either eight-cylinder alternative, which on long routes and long rental periods translates into real money.
The X7 is a car for routes where you bring people and luggage. The best direction is Masuria: the S8 through Ostrów Mazowiecka, then Mikołajki or Giżycko. Four hours with seven aboard is realistic here without a recovery stop, and the high driving position means the driver tires less than in a low car.
A shorter option is the Zegrze Reservoir and Serock — forty minutes from the centre, a good destination for a day out with children. The southern direction runs on the S17 to Kazimierz Dolny on the Vistula and onwards to Nałęczów; that is about a hundred and forty kilometres each way, comfortable for a weekend.
For a trip with an overnight stay in the mountains, Karpacz and the Jelenia Góra valley are realistic on the A2 westward and then the S3 — around five hundred kilometres, the distance at which the X7's air suspension shows its value most clearly.
Seven from the factory, across three rows. The manufacturer also offers a six-seat variant in which two individual chairs replace the second-row bench. Configuration can vary between examples — if you are travelling as a full group, confirm the seating layout when booking.
In most newer garages, yes, but some older facilities in Śródmieście have a height limit below two metres. Air suspension lowers the body, which usually solves the problem — it is still worth checking the entrance specification in advance.
Yes, and it is the most common scenario for this car. We deliver to the Chopin Airport terminal, to Modlin and to any address in Warsaw. Three rows of seats let you collect an entire group with luggage in one run.
The X7 is a comfortable SUV with three rows of seats and a 381 hp inline six, built around space and passenger comfort. The G63 is a body-on-frame car with a 585 hp V8, built around character and appearance. The X7 is more practical and cheaper to run, the G63 more striking.
Yes, it is one of the best cars in this fleet for multi-month use thanks to the combination of space, comfort and reasonable fuel consumption. Terms for extended periods are agreed individually.
Yes, but travel abroad requires written consent and an additional charge for extended insurance. Tell us the destination and dates when booking so we can prepare the paperwork in time.
