More about BMW M5 G90

BMW M5 G90

Character

The G90 generation is the deepest change in the history of the BMW M5. For the first time in this model the powertrain is a plug-in hybrid: an electric motor integrated into the gearbox joins the familiar twin-turbo V8, along with a battery large enough for pure electric running. The result is 727 hp combined and 1000 Nm of torque — figures that belonged to supercars a decade ago rather than to family saloons.

Reviewers consistently note two things. The first is how the power arrives: the electric motor fills every gap in the V8's delivery, so throttle response is instant regardless of revs or gear. There is no waiting for turbochargers, only one continuous shove. The second is mass. The G90 is noticeably heavier than its predecessor and that cannot be entirely hidden; engineers compensated with a wider track, active roll stabilisation and rear-axle steering, but in tight corners the car behaves more like a large GT than a sharp sports saloon.

In practice this is a car with two personalities, switched between with a single button. In electric mode the M5 moves quietly and smoothly, like any executive saloon. In Sport it turns into something that accelerates harder than common sense suggests it should.

This car

The AUREX example is a 2026 model year, the most current form of the model. The powertrain is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 in hybrid configuration producing 727 hp combined and 1000 Nm, with an automatic gearbox and M xDrive all-wheel drive. Zero to 100 km/h takes 3.5 seconds and top speed is 250 km/h, the standard electronic limit.

The body is a four-door saloon with five genuine seats and a normal boot — five doors counting the lid, five seats. Unlike most cars with comparable performance, the M5 remains a car you can use to carry a family every day. Equipment includes a modern infotainment system with smartphone integration, comfortable sports seats, driver assistance and parking support.

Specification can vary between examples. If a particular feature matters to you, confirm it when booking.

The BMW M5 G90 in Warsaw

The hybrid M5 is easier in the city than any of its predecessors. Electric mode lets you cover an entire hotel–office–restaurant route without starting the V8, which matters at seven in the morning in a residential courtyard and on the ramp into an underground car park. The Clean Transport Zone in the central districts creates no restriction whatsoever: a 2026 plug-in hybrid clears the requirements with enormous margin.

Dimensions are typical for the executive class and cause no problem in Warsaw's street grid outside the narrowest parts of the Old Town. You can collect the car from our office at Nowy Świat 54/56, or we will deliver it to the Chopin Airport terminal, to Modlin or to a given address in the city. For evening collection it is worth agreeing the handover point in advance — stopping outside hotels in Śródmieście tends to be brief, and it is better to have arranged it than to improvise.

When the BMW M5 G90 makes sense

The M5 is the most versatile car in this fleet, and its use cases are correspondingly broad. A business trip with passengers: five seats, a boot and a quiet cabin when you need to talk on the move. A weekend out of town with the family, where performance is a bonus rather than the point. Moving guests to an event, when the car should be presentable but not extravagant.

Long-term rental deserves separate mention. The M5 G90 is a very new model, and cars in the first year after a generation change depreciate fastest and are hardest to resell within a sensible timeframe. Renting by the month lets you use the newest generation without stepping onto that curve — and without dealing with servicing, seasonal tyres or insurance. Terms for multi-month periods are agreed individually.

BMW M5 G90 or BMW M8 Competition — hybrid against pure V8

This is a comparison between two generations of BMW M philosophy. The M5 G90 offers 727 hp from a hybrid system, five seats, an electric mode and every advantage of a saloon. The BMW M8 Competition offers 625 hp from a classic, non-hybrid V8, two doors and a silhouette the M5 will never have.

The numbers imply an M5 advantage, but the felt difference is subtler. The M8 is lighter and feels more of a single piece through corners; the M5 has stronger thrust from any part of the range but also more mass to stop. On the motorway both share the same top speed limit. In town the M5 is decisively more comfortable thanks to its electric mode.

The choice comes down to how many people are travelling. Two, and the impression matters — the M8. Four or five, and usefulness matters — the M5.

Where to drive from Warsaw

A saloon with this much power is best used on longer routes where comfort counts as much as performance. The natural direction is Masuria: the S8 through Ostrów Mazowiecka and then towards Mikołajki or Giżycko. The road is quick, and the final few dozen kilometres run between lakes — the most enjoyable part of the journey and the right moment to switch to petrol mode and listen to the V8.

A shorter option is the Zegrze Reservoir and Serock, forty minutes from the centre, circling the reservoir and returning through the Biała Forest. The cultural option is Żelazowa Wola and the Kampinos Forest: an hour west, the house where Chopin was born, and forest sections through Palmiry on the way back where electric mode is the right choice.

Frequently asked questions

How does the electric mode work in the hybrid M5?

The electric motor is integrated into the gearbox and can drive the car on its own at lower speeds. In electric mode the M5 runs silently, with the V8 starting under harder throttle or once the battery is depleted. Switching is done with a button on the console.

Do I need to charge the BMW M5 during the rental?

There is no obligation to. The car drives normally with a depleted battery, and the system recharges it while driving and braking. Plugging in simply extends the electric range.

Can I collect the BMW M5 at Chopin Airport?

Yes. We deliver to the Chopin Airport terminal, to Modlin and to any address in Warsaw. You can also collect from our office at Nowy Świat 54/56. Place and time are agreed when we confirm the booking.

How does the BMW M5 G90 differ from the BMW M8 Competition in the same fleet?

The M5 is a hybrid saloon with 727 hp, five seats and an electric mode. The M8 Competition is a two-door coupé with a classic V8 of 625 hp and no electric component. The M5 is more versatile, the M8 more striking.

Is the M5 suitable for a longer corporate rental?

Yes, it is one of the best cars in this fleet for multi-month use: five seats, a full-size boot and low urban fuel consumption thanks to the hybrid system. Terms for extended periods are agreed individually.

Can I take this car outside Poland?

Yes, but travel abroad requires written consent and an additional charge for extended insurance. Tell us the destination and dates when booking so we can prepare the paperwork in time.
