The BMW M8 sits at the top of the M coupé range: a car built on the same mechanical foundation as the previous-generation M5, but wrapped in the low, wide body of the 8 Series. The point of the model is to combine genuine M engineering with the comfort of a large grand tourer — adaptive suspension, sports exhaust, carbon trim, electrically adjustable seats. In BMW's hierarchy the M8 sits above the M4, though not because it is sharper. It is there because it lets you travel fast and conspicuously at the same time.
Reviewers describe the M8 as a grand tourer rather than a pure sports car. The bulk of its torque sits in the middle of the rev range, so acceleration is powerful and effortless without needing to wring the engine out to the limiter. The V8's voice is more restrained than six hundred horsepower suggests: modern emissions filtering has muted it, and around town the M8 sounds substantial rather than loud. The surprise comes in corners — for a car close to two tonnes the chassis is remarkably agile, the steering builds meaningful weight, and the mass only reminds you of itself during the sharpest direction changes.
The Competition version in the AUREX fleet is the senior of the two: firmer engine mounts, revised damper tuning and a wider spread between driving modes. In relaxed settings it is a comfortable executive car for everyday use; in its aggressive ones it becomes a very fast coupé that forgives more than its looks promise.
The AUREX example is a 2022 model year, a two-door coupé with four seats. The powertrain is a 4.4-litre S63 twin-turbo V8 producing 625 hp and 750 Nm, paired with an automatic gearbox and M xDrive all-wheel drive that includes a mode sending all torque to the rear axle. Zero to 100 km/h takes 3.2 seconds and top speed is 250 km/h — the standard electronic limit for this version, which the factory M Driver's Package raises to 305 km/h. This particular car runs the standard limiter.
The cabin is set up for the grand touring brief: a modern infotainment system with smartphone integration, comfortable electrically adjustable sports seats, driver assistance and parking support. That last item matters in Warsaw — the body is close to five metres long, and cameras and sensors save a great deal of stress in underground car parks in Wola and Śródmieście. The rear seats in a coupé are nominal: this is a car for two people with luggage rather than a genuine four-seater for daily use.
Specification can vary between examples of this model. If a particular feature matters to you, confirm it when booking.
Warsaw suits a large coupé better than most European capitals. Wide arteries — the Wisłostrada, Trasa Łazienkowska, Aleje Jerozolimskie — let you flow rather than manoeuvre. Difficulty only begins in the Old Town and the narrow streets of Powiśle, where a near five-metre body and a low front bumper demand attention around kerbs and speed bumps.
The Clean Transport Zone covering the central districts poses no obstacle to this car; a 2022 petrol engine clears the requirements comfortably. You can collect the car from our office at Nowy Świat 54/56, right in the centre, or we will deliver it to the Chopin Airport terminal, to Modlin, or to any other address in Warsaw — a hotel in Śródmieście, an office in Mokotów. For airport collection, allow a few minutes of margin: the drop-off bays outside the terminals fill up during peak arrival hours.
This car works in four scenarios. The first is a weekend for two with a trip out of the city: grand touring comfort on the motorway and enough boot space for two cabin cases. The second is business representation — arriving at a meeting, a dinner or a conference in a car that makes an impression without the aggression of a supercar. The third is photography and video, where the low proportions of the coupé and its pronounced wheel arches frame better than most cars in this class.
The fourth scenario is long-term rental, and for the M8 it has particular logic. A car at this level loses value fastest in its first two years of ownership, and servicing costs climb with mileage. Renting by the month moves that risk onto the rental company and lets you change model when your needs change. Terms for extended periods are agreed individually — write or call before booking individual days.
It is rare to be able to put two flagships of the M line side by side in the same fleet. The M8 Competition is the classic formula: a pure petrol V8 with 625 hp, two doors instead of four, style ahead of capacity. The BMW M5 G90 is the new era — a hybrid powertrain with 727 hp, five genuine seats and an electric mode for city driving.
The two barely overlap in purpose. You choose the M8 when two of you are travelling and you want to be seen; the M5 when you need all the seats and all the power at once. On the motorway the difference is smaller than the numbers suggest: both share the same top speed limit and comparable torque reserves at cruising pace. In town the M5's advantage is obvious thanks to its electric mode and greater practicality, while the M8 wins anywhere the silhouette matters.
If you want something smaller and more immediate, the same fleet holds the BMW M2 — a compact coupé of entirely different character.
The M8 is built for fast, presentable routes, and the south-east direction fits perfectly. The classic run is Kazimierz Dolny on the Vistula: about a hundred and forty kilometres on the S17 and then local roads, a Renaissance town, a market square and a bluff above the river. It is worth detouring through Puławy and driving along the Vistula — the prettiest stretch of the whole route and the best section for photographs.
A shorter option is Konstancin-Jeziorna and then along the western bank of the Vistula: half an hour from the centre, villa-lined avenues, a brine graduation tower and quiet roads with no through traffic. The longer version is Masuria via the S8 and Ostróda, where a large GT shows exactly what it was built for — four hours of driving pass like two.
Yes. We deliver to the Chopin Airport terminal, to Modlin and to any address in Warsaw — hotel, office or apartment. You can also collect from our office at Nowy Świat 54/56. The exact place and time are agreed when we confirm the booking.
This is the Competition version, the senior of the two, with 625 hp. The standard M8 produces 600 hp and has slightly softer suspension tuning.
The M8 is a two-door coupé with a pure petrol V8 of 625 hp, focused on style and long journeys. The M5 G90 is a hybrid saloon with 727 hp, five seats and an electric mode. Both are available from AUREX, so the simplest approach is to try them back to back.
A coupé. BMW's range also includes a four-door Gran Coupé and a soft-top convertible, but the example in the AUREX fleet is the classic two-door coupé with a fixed roof.
The boot takes two cabin cases and a holdall. The rear bench in a coupé is nominal but works well as additional luggage space — this is a car for two people travelling comfortably.
