Wedding Car: Maybach, G 63 or SL 63?

Wedding car in Warsaw: Maybach S 580, G 63 or SL 63? Who drives, how the couple sits, what to check at a fitting and the Polish road rules.

· Updated: · Bohdan Olkhovyi ·11 min read

In short. For a wedding in Warsaw, any car in the Aurex fleet can be booked, and there are three main options. The Maybach S 580 suits a couple who sit in the back while a friend named in the contract or a chauffeur booked on request drives. The G 63 is chosen for its high seating position and recognisable silhouette. The SL 63 is an open roof for two, and its rear seats are limited to passengers up to 1.50 m tall.

The choice between these cars starts with the question of who will drive and how the couple will sit. The technical data below comes from manufacturers’ documents. Nobody has measured the sill, the door opening width or the space for a dress in Aurex cars, so every item ends with a check at a fitting. Rental terms and the booking procedure are on the page wedding car hire in Warsaw.

Who drives and how the couple sits

There are two arrangements. In the first, the couple rides in the back and a person named in the contract drives: a witness, a brother, a friend. Here the rear row matters. In the second, one of the couple drives and the other sits beside. Then the rear row hardly matters, but the front door and getting in while dressed decide everything.

The driver’s conditions are the same throughout the rental: age from 21 years, driving experience from 2 years. Additional drivers are also named in the contract. A car with a chauffeur is also available on request, and the price is agreed individually with the manager.

Maybach S 580: how it differs from the S-Class

The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 belongs to the Z223 generation. The right comparison for it is the long-wheelbase S-Class of the same generation, not any Mercedes with an S in its name. According to Mercedes, the Maybach’s wheelbase is 180 mm longer, and the whole gain goes to the rear compartment.

The second part of the concept is the cabin. The core of the idea is Executive seats and a chauffeur package, and the front passenger seat moves forward to free up space behind. The rear of the body is built differently from an ordinary S-Class, with a fixed side window in the rear pillar area. Mercedes offered powered rear doors as an option, so the manager confirms whether a particular car has them.

A refrigerator, tables, colour and cabin trim cannot be guessed from the name S 580, so check those with the manager too. At the fitting, look at three things: the centre console between the rear seats, the angle of entry at the kerb and how the hem lies.

G 63: high seating and the sill

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 in the Aurex fleet has separate rear doors. For the 2018 generation Mercedes stated an increase in rear legroom of 150 mm over its predecessor. That figure describes legs, not how a dress passes through the opening.

Body height is not the same as seat height, and from the height of the G 63 you cannot guess how easy it is to get in. The step and the sill decide everything, so try the outfit in the same shoes the couple will wear to the ceremony. The G 63 has separate rear doors. A review of the model itself is in the article on the G 63.

SL 63: an open roof for two

The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 is a roadster of the R232 generation, which Mercedes presented on 28 October 2021; the fleet has the 2025 version. The body layout is 2+2, but the rear seat admits passengers no taller than 1.50 m, or 1.35 m with a child restraint system. There are no rear doors, and you can reach the back only through the front. The roof is fabric and powered, and opens in about 15 seconds.

A direct conclusion follows. The arrangement of a friend driving with the couple in the back does not work for the SL, while a couple on their own does: one drives, the other sits beside. Before the wedding, check how you sit with the roof closed and the veil on, and where the bag and belongings will go. More about the model is in a separate SL 63 review.

The table shows the order of checks, not a ranking of comfort. There are no measurements for Aurex cars, so the winner is chosen by the fitting.

If the dress is voluminous or there are many guests

When you need to seat more people in the cabin and carry belongings, look at the Range Rover Sport and the BMW X7 40i. For the L461 generation Range Rover Sport, compared with the previous one, Land Rover added 31 mm of rear legroom and 20 mm of knee room and described the air suspension. The updated X7 has three rows: the second is available as a bench for three or a pair of individual seats, and the air suspension works on both axles. These figures do not prove comfort for a dress, so here too the fitting decides.

When to write and what to prepare for the request

Wedding portals advise looking for a modern premium car 6-9 months before the date. This is market advice, not the result of a survey of couples. Any car in the fleet can be booked for a wedding, and the manager confirms whether it is free on the Saturday you need. In the request, give the date, the venues, the number of passengers, the volume of the dress and luggage, the driver’s name or a note that you need a chauffeur, and a spare model.

Decoration and road rules

Aurex can decorate the car for an extra fee, and the price is agreed individually with the manager. Agree on your own decorations when booking too, and do not assume that flowers and ribbons are allowed in advance.

Polish rules are the same on any day. Registration plates and lights may not be covered, and decor must not worsen the legibility of the plate (Road Traffic Act, Prawo o ruchu drogowym, art. 60). The driver’s visibility and safety are also mandatory (art. 66). A “Młoda para” sign remains a custom, not a permission, and it does not replace the plate. For photos it is better to keep it to the parking spot: on the road, signs are better removed. The motoring press advises not blocking the view with flowers and not using long veils, hanging cans or covered headlights.

A suction cup needs a clean, dry and degreased panel, and after fresh polishing it holds worse; it is removed by lifting an edge. Magnetic decor suits a static photo, but the fastener manufacturer does not recommend magnets on a moving car. There is no universal fastening for paint, film and ceramic coating that the manufacturer has confirmed.

How to run a fitting

The fitting is needed before booking, not on the wedding day. Come in the outfit or at least with a hem of the same length and in the shoes you will wear to the altar. Sit on the rear seat, close the door and see whether the fabric is pinched. Then get out the way you will at the venue: with a witness helping, a bouquet in hand.

Also check what is visible from the cabin. The veil, the hairstyle and the ceiling height combine differently in every car, and a table cannot compare them. Ask someone to photograph the seating from the pavement side: the picture shows at once how the dress lies. If a fitting is not possible, describe the outfit to the manager and ask which models in the fleet they consider suitable, and confirm the choice in person at handover.

Five mistakes when choosing

“A Maybach is an S-Class with a different badge.” It is not: it has a longer rear compartment and its own cabin equipment. The right comparison is with the long-wheelbase S-Class of the same generation.

“An SUV is always more comfortable for a dress.” Manufacturers do not promise this. Legroom and the number of seats do not show how the hem passes the sill, and there are no measurements for Aurex cars.

“The SL has four seats, so four adults will ride.” The rear seat is designed for a height of up to 1.50 m, and for a child with a seat up to 1.35 m.

“A wedding sign can cover the plate.” No: art. 60 forbids covering the plate and worsening its legibility. For a shot, the sign can be placed at the parking spot and removed before the drive.

“A suction cup is reliable on any paint.” Its manufacturer requires a prepared surface and describes how to remove it, but gives no guarantee for any coating. There is no universal fastening scheme for paint, film and ceramic coating, so the decision belongs to the rental company.

Who each car suits and who it does not

The Maybach suits a couple who want to ride in the back and can appoint a driver from the contract. The G 63 is for those who care about seating height and silhouette, provided the sill does not become a problem for the outfit. The SL 63 is chosen by two people under the open sky, if the couple accept the limit of the rear row.

None of them suits you if you could not try the outfit in advance. If the person who wants to drive in the evening is one who drinks, self-drive is not an option: book a car with a chauffeur and agree the price with the manager. A rental voucher can also be given to a couple: the recipient drives the car themselves, and age and experience are checked against the rental conditions: 21 years and 2 years.

Frequently asked questions

Which car is most comfortable for seating a bride in a wide dress? There is no universal answer, and there are no measurements for Aurex cars. There is also no published evidence that one of the cars, the Maybach, Range Rover Sport or X7, is guaranteed to be better than another, so compare them in person and check the hem. Take the SL 63 if the couple rides in front, just the two of them.

Will an open roof spoil the hairstyle and make-up? No source gives a guarantee, and one bride’s experience does not replace a check. Take a test shot with the roof open and closed before the wedding, and on the main part of the route keep the roof up if the hairstyle matters more than the photograph.

When should I start looking for a specific model? Portals advise 6-9 months for a modern premium car. Free Saturdays depend on the car, so write to the manager right after choosing the date and name a spare option.

Does a suction cup fit any panel, and a magnet any car? No. A suction cup needs a clean, dry, degreased surface, and a magnet does not hold on every panel, and the manufacturer does not recommend it on a moving car. Aurex can also decorate the car itself for an extra fee, priced with the manager.

Can I seat three or four people in the SL 63? No, for guests taller than 1.50 m it is not an option. Rear seating is allowed for a height of no more than 1.50 m, and for a child with a seat no more than 1.35 m; the roadster has no rear doors.

What should I send the manager to confirm a car? The date, the venues and the route, the number of passengers, luggage and the volume of the dress, the name of the driver and the additional driver, the chosen and the spare model. If you need decoration, rental for a few hours or a chauffeur, say so straight away: the price is agreed individually with the manager.
